Pig Beach, also known as “Pig Island” or “Major Cay Coral Reef,” officially named “Big Major Cay Coral Reef,” is an uninhabited island in the Bahamas. It has gained worldwide fame thanks to the many wild swimming pigs that inhabit it, making these adorable pigs social media sensations.
Pig Beach is home to a group of the “happiest” pigs in the world. They can swim in the crystal clear waters, sunbathe on the beach, pose for photos with tourists, and have become the star animals of the island. The reason why there are so many swimming pigs on this uninhabited island is said to be because their ancestors were abandoned here by passing sailors. Every year, many tourists are attracted to visit by these “special hosts.” The pigs swim with visitors, demand food, and many people have shared funny videos of themselves swimming with the pigs. The pigs love to surf along the shoreline in the water, they warmly welcome tourists arriving by boat, and have thus become a new tourist highlight in the area.
Film producer Charles Allan Smith is currently shooting a documentary about this group of pigs, hoping to find evidence of how these pigs first took to the water.
