Inagua National Park was established in 1965, located on Great Inagua Island in the Bahamas. The park covers an area of 744 square kilometers, making it the largest national park in the Bahamas and the world’s largest breeding and conservation site for flamingos. As early as 1904, there was already concern about the declining population of the national bird of the Bahamas, the flamingo. In the 1960s, through the efforts of the government and various parties, Inagua National Park was finally established.
The establishment of Inagua National Park has reversed the endangered status of the flamingos, and with the efforts of the staff, the population of flamingos is steadily increasing. In 1997, the park was designated as a globally important wetland conservation area, taking the protection of flamingos to a new level. When flamingos dance gracefully in the sky, against the backdrop of the blue sky, clear lake waters, and green trees, they form beautiful scenery, no wonder visitors call it the best bird watching paradise in the world.
